Goji Plants & SeedsGrow your own Goji!Goji is the ‘superfood’ that everyone’s talking about, and now you can grown your own from seeds or starter plants. Goji Berries are about 2cm (¾”) in diameter and have a mild, sweet liquorice flavour. The goji berry plant is extremely hardy and easy to grow in a sunny position. Their usual height when you first purchase and begin growing is approximately 1.8m (6′) but they quickly get bigger and reach about 9 feet. Growing GojiGoji Berry plants begin to fruit when they are about 2 years old and heavy yields can be expected once they get to 4 or 5 years. The Goji bush grows to approximately 8-10 feet tall with vines that can get up to 12 feet long. Like many plants and foliage, heavy pruning of the goji berry plant will help it produce more delicious berries. To successfully grow goji berries, you will need to place the plants under a strong, full spectrum, artificial light or by a window that gets direct sunlight for at least 8 hours every day. Ultimately though, as an outdoor plant, Goji grows best outside. Goji Berry plants can survive winters (-15 degrees F!) and hot summers (100 degrees F!) no wonder it’s a super food, it’s even a super plant! |
